My Bliss.

There are certain places that can free your mind. That just allow you to breathe despite any stress, anger, sadness or any other negative emotion - these places free you from it all, even if only for the moment. One of these places for me is the lake. There's something about it when nobody else is around that just allows me to let go and relax. The noise, the fresh air, the soft atmosphere - it all wraps around me like a blanket and takes away the tension.
Normally by now I've been to the lake a few times, hell on an average winter I've still visited, but this drawn out, long, grey and cold weather has been utterly depressing leaving me home and antsy with cabin fever like none other. Today though; despite the not averagely warm temperature - I finally got up and went out to the lake for the first time this year for more than 3 minutes. [which by the way, the parking was covered in snow... go away snow. nobody likes you anymore!]
I took the kids, we walked along the shore, searched for sea shells [and more sea shells of course!] and honestly - I felt better than I have in a few months. Even with the smattering of bad news I received today - this place... this is my bliss. This is where I find myself and my happiness wrapped up in grains of sand and cradled by waves.

Devilled Easter Eggs

These are a lot of fun to make, and of course they're festive for Easter.
But you can make them for birthday parties, baby showers, and other holidays as well by doing selected colors rather than a bunch!

Well - I can't quite tell you how to make the devilled eggs
I all but swore upon a death bed for the recipe - but you can check out
this recipe for general devilled eggs to follow
and I can tell you how to get them colored!

You'll Need:
  • hard boiled eggs, halved w/ yolk removed [& saved on the side]
  • food coloring
  • vinegar
  • water
*DO NOT USE FOOD COLOR GELS!*
Directions:
  1. Fill each cup with 2/3 cold water & 2 tsp. vinegar [1 cup for each color you want to use.]
  2. Add 5-7 drops of food coloring for desired color[s]
  3. Rinse egg halves under cold water and drop one half into each cup
  4.  Allow to sit for approx. 30 seconds. [more or less depending on color desired. Less will be lighter, longer will be bolder]
  5. Remove from cups & set upside down on paper towel to let excess water drain off then place in trays/on plates.
  6. Follow the rest of a regular devilled egg recipe as you would regular eggs.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter!!!

Project 365

I've been thinking about trying it again for a while now, but it's been so cold I knew I wouldn't make it past a week. I started one in April 2010 - I did really well and made it to day 292 and then my camera broke =/ of course... SO CLOSE! But anyways, I've been wanting to try again but either I was working wayy too much or it was winter and winter is a terrible time for me to start anything. So; now April is here and it's [supposed] to get warm eventually... so bam, I'm starting it today.

And so here is Day 1: sugar cookies
we made for Izzy to take to school for her share day.
Her's were actually frosted yellow with each kids initial piped onto it in blue =P

WISH ME LUCK!
Also; rather than posting every day - I'll just post once a week with that weeks photos! I'm so excited!
And; of course if you decide to try it yourself now or later; check out Project 365 Survival Guide - which I wrote while doing it the first time!

I hate butterflies - Happy 3 am

Alright, so I just posted a poll feature of butterflies and you know what I realized about butterflies? I hate them, I don't like them one bit. They're pretty but upclose they're just creepy and moth like. Now that sounds crazy right? No, absolutely not; I have a serious phobia of moths. [that was my rationalization, I'm sure you're still thinking "okkkayyy crazy lady... but what's your problem?"] No, that IS my problem. I don't have the "eww that's creepy" phobia of moths, I have the OMFG I'M GOING TO DIE! phobia of moths because the next three words are I CAN'T BREATHE! know why? because I'm absolutely terrified and panic sets in and I have this sort of mini-break down where everything itches and I feel like my body is being swarmed by moths and OMFG I CAN'T DEAL WITH THIS!

Okay; we're going to stop talking about that now because it's 3 am, there's about a trillion goosebumps on my skin right now and I am freaked the hell out... anyways, wanna know why I really hate butterflies? Butterflies haven't really bothered me... actually that's a lie; one time I was at the butterfly house and there was this really pretty [HOLY HELL! Did I just pull my feet up off the ground while sitting on the couch out of fear like there's some monster under there going to grab my ankles and eat me? Yes, yes I did... no joke]... anyways - this really pretty gorgeous blue butterfly sitting on some beautiful flowers and I was like oh, I'm gonna snap a picture of that little lady [because this is the butterfly house, not house of 1,000 moths right?] so anyways picture taken, la la la... well it landed on my arm [let's note that when you're there they actually TELL you not to touch the butterflies because well they're probably expensive and foreign and the 43 signs aren't warning enough] anyways; it landed on my arm and then it closed it's beastly horrid wings into MOTH WINGS!!!!! I couldn't even handle myself, it was ON MY ARM and it was so close to my face I started hyperventilating and crying right there. Swinging my arm about like a psychotic woman trying to get it off me ['cause you know, they told me not to touch them and I'm respectful]... so anyways... pretty blue butterfly I later turned out is ACTUALLY A GIANT MOTHER F-ING MOTH! from Brazil or something!

Okay; that's not why I hate butterflies, I'm sorry we'll get to this... anyhow so you know the "more like this" feature on deviation pages... well, let's just say those weren't all butterflies! they were winged mothy little hell butterflies. And now that I think more about it; I'm not fond of butterflies either. I think they're pretty, but I don't like them... okay that's a lie, I love butterflies... but they can't have that ominous mothy look about them. They're evil.

Back to my butterfly house story; wanna know what happened once I got a nice double dose of ativan and practically died tried to walk back to the ferry where I passed out and woke up in my warm cozy bed? [yeah... ativan and I... I'm 90 percent certain the main reason it works well for me is 'cause I pass the fuck out and whatever is bothering me is no longer important] but anywho... there was a freaking MOTH IN MY PURSE!!!!! I accidentally stole a foreign moth! So of course I kindly panicked again, and had the moth escorted back to where it belonged [away from me.]

Happy 3 am.

Marshmallow Flower Cupcakes

What You'll Need
  • frosted cupcakes
  • 1 bag of mini-marshmallows
  • scissors
  • colored sugar sprinkles
  • sandwich baggie
  • & patience!
Instructions
  1.  Fill first baggie with desired colored sugar sprinkles.
  2. Cut mini-marshmallows in half diagonally and place into bag. [you can also cut them into thirds, that is how I did the ones above, but it's much less frustrating to do halves.]
  3. Shake the baggie until the sticky marshmallow side[s] are covered in the sugar.
  4. Carefully [I suggest starting from the inside] place marshmallows in a circle 'spiralling' outwards.
NOTE: if you do multi-colored [like pictured], I suggest doing a large amount of petals [marshmallows] before hand so you don't have to keep making different colors. I also recommend doing a few of one color first, it's much easier to do and less time consuming. [also I personally like the look of the single colored ones better to be honest.]

Amtrak Residency

If you're a writer and even just moderately like trains; this may adjust some of your life dreams as well. I read about this a couple weeks ago but didn't really get a chance to write about it. Since I'm finally sitting down for a few minutes; I have to share this with you.
If you're an active writer on twitter, you may have seen the hashtag #AmtrakResidency, or at least I hope you have. If not perhaps you saw one or two articles such as:
Okay; enough linking... for now; what am I talking about? I'm talking about taking a free to cheap trip on Amtrak for the pure and sole purpose of writing. If you're even the slightest bit like me you'll understand right now that a new writing atmosphere can be one of the greatest things/places your literary self finds. Not only does it offer peace and change; but an absolutely awesome life experience to go with some pen to paper action [or fingers to keys, whichever].
NYC Writer Uses Twitter to Land the Best Workspace Ever when writer Jessica Gross tweeted Amtrak for residency trip for her writing; given that, Amtrak has just begun a residency for up to 24 writers to take long distance trains to work on their writing and will include accommodations of a sleeper car perfectly set for writers.
If all of that sounds good to you, now is your chance to apply for one of these residencies

The Small Things.

Saturday I took my daughter out for the night; we went to dinner followed by going to see the play Cinderella at the opera house. The opera house is probably one of the most beautiful buildings around here, and it just has this magical atmosphere to it, perfect for little girls. Anyway it was a wonderful evening with the little girl; and she had a lot of fun too.
I curled her hair [or as she calls it made it "twirly"], we got all dressed up and she said "tonight we're classy"... I don't know where she learned that, but she was all about being classy for the night.
The play was good, but the best part was her face and how it lit up as she watched it. I was a little nervous about taking a 4 year old to see a play, thinking she'd lose interest; but she loved the dancing, the singing and everything about it. She clapped and laughed like a natural.
Afterwards when we got in the car I was buckling her in and she goes "Mom, this was the best day ever!". Honestly it made my heart melt, with the happiness I could see in her eyes and how excited she was about it.
Sunday I took my boys to see The Secret Case of Sherlock Homes at the high school; while it wasn't as prestigious as the opera house, they still enjoyed it and had a lot of fun watching it.

It's doing little things like this with my kids that mean so much. Not just going and doing things, but when I set everything up for a paint session or they come home and see that I've baked cupcakes for them to decorate; they light up and we have so much fun. Days at the park, or sledding at the big hill. It's their bright, pure and happy smiles that make everything perfect. I can't imagine what it'd be like without that.
People get so busy with other things; work, life, getting stuff done that sometimes they forget how important it is to spend these moments with their kids. By Monday my house was a wreck, laundry had piled up, dishes  needed tended and it was a small war zone of things scattered; thus making Monday a long day while they were at school and I was cleaning; but it was worth every second of folding laundry to see them enjoying their childhood and experiencing new parts of life.

#DrawingAlongMarch

I finally went out and got a sketchbook yesterday, I was uploading a sketch to twitter with the hashtag #drawing and the suggestion #DrawingAlongMarch popped up, which seemed like perfect timing. When I clicked the hashtag everything came up in Spanish so with the help of some translation I found out what #DrawingAlongMarch is, and discovered something even more wonderful beneath the surface!

First of all; what is #DrawingAlongMarch? Translated straight from this gonzoo page:
"Beyond creating a single virtual meeting point , ' Drawing Along March ' aims to encourage the creativity of Spanish society , ignoring for a minute the issues and concerns of everyday life . " The main thing is having a good time . I think people should draw more . And reading, knitting , writing or cooking . Things that help us to disconnect from the world and be a little happier. All that activity must seek to fill us , "says Marta." We are all creative in varying degrees . In addition , spending five minutes a day to do a scribble we can find much better. It is a moment to unwind, to have focus , discover our capabilities ...are all advantages ! "Added Gemma continuing with the main idea of your partner. Losing the fear is to face a blank sheet is one of the main goals pursued this cyber meeting. There are no restrictions to join the project . Both girls have this very clear paragraph , like all previous structuring the initiative : " Any person , animal or thing can participate. The idea is to make a drawing a day, no matter the technique, while you devote , if you color it , or if it's a doodle done in thirty seconds. It just has to be related to the proposed topic , "explained ."

So while I'm not Spanish and I'm not terribly good at drawing something stood out "It's a moment to unwind, to have focus, discover..." these words struck out to me, this is what art is, should be.

Kamasutra Each day does have a theme to go along with; which I don't know Spanish well enough and I know the translate isn't translating it all correctly based on what I do know, so if you can translate it, awesome! If not; the idea is still amazingly wonderful ❤ I'm definitely gonna give it a try myself (=

An Acrylic Adventure.

       First; a few words.
What I Know About Painting
1. you use paint

What I Don't Know About Painting
1. everything not listed above.

I think this was probably one of the most peaceful, relaxing things I've done in a really long time. It was so nice to just sit there and paint, it's like my mind stopped wandering, worrying, analyzing and thinking about things and allowed me to just exist where I was.

From Baking to Photographing

Whether you just baked some absolutely beautiful cupcakes or grilled some perfect kebabs; you're probably feeling the urge to photograph it before you delve into the deliciousness; but for some photographing these yummy pieces can be trickier than actually making them!
Why is food photography so hard? I don't actually have a direct answer for that; but I think a lot of it has to do with the limitations on placing it and the small areas you have to do it in. We can place a figurine in the dirt, on a tree branch, on the window sill, between some book pages... you see my point; we can't quite do any of that [nor would we want to!] with cupcakes, sushi, steak or cookies.

Tools
  • your food
  • a camera
  • background/props/etc. if any
  • lighting [if needed]
  • your lovely self!

Background & Area
While your main piece is the food, you still have to consider the background. So what can you use?! Well; my first suggestion would be your cooking area! There's a variety of ways you could do this, from photographing one with more in the background or using the tools or ingredients you used to make it with! Or you can simply use a plain background from a plate, counter or otherwise. [For plain backgrounds I use fabric, a 12inch x 12inch piece should usually be sufficient; it's like a mini-backdrop!] and finally another easy way to create a background is bokeh or out of focus objects.
Keep in mind while props [other objects, food, garnishes, etc.] can add to your photo, they should not be the photo. However you decide to set up, make sure your food is still the main focus of your photograph.
Once you've got your food; I suggest picking ONE piece/plate to photograph. If you want to have more in the background; that's fine, but pick one to be your main focal piece that shows your best out of it all to be your center of attention; your "shining star".

Lighting:
First of all lighting, I highly, highly recommend not using flash. I [as many others] would suggest using as much natural lighting as you can; try to set up by a window with a good amount of light coming in to keep the natural atmosphere to the photo. If you can't go ahead and get some lamps in the room if you need more light but flash turns most colored food [especially in cakes, cupcakes, cookies and anything with food coloring] into something that looks more like a lsd trip over an appetizing photograph. People at woodstock didn't see colors so bright as food coloring under a camera flash. My best suggestion is try using natural light and work with your camera settings first.
One thing I've used for lighting without having a lighting kit is I bought some "daylight" bulbs, you can get them at decent prices and almost any store. [seriously; I bought mine at the market down the road that doesn't even carry fresh produce past October.]

Angle & Framing:
LSD trips and food coloring aside; after you've found adequate lighting the next two things to worry about are the positioning and angles to use.
There are 3 main angles you see in food photography
                                1. downwards [capturing the top]
                                2. straight forward [photographing the sides]
                                3. tilted towards [catching a bit of the sides & the top]
Now you have to decide which one is right for your food. Decide which part of your food you want to show the most, which part stands out and is going to give the best appearance to your subject. Is most of your work visible from the side [for example, cakes with multiple layers, fruit & vegetable work, etc.] or is it mostly at the top [like decorated cookies, soups, etc.] or is it on both top and sides [cakes, entrees, salads, etc.]
Once you've decided what you'd like to capture most out of your food, pick an angle that will show the best and most of what you're photographing. For example: If you're photographing soup, it's in a bowl so you can't go from the side, you can either do from the top or tilted towards. The next questions are do you have props to add to a from the top shot, without adding something to it along side the bowl it will feel flat and uninteresting. You could add some crackers on the side and one along side of the bowl in the soup to add some depth to the image without taking away from the soup. If you decide to tilt towards it; you can add some garnishes [herbs, sour cream, cheese, etc.] to give it life as well.
Keep in mind if you're working with flat food [i.e. a dish, soup, cookies etc.] build the dish itself up with garnishes [herbs, sauce, ingredients [for example, put some cinnamon sticks in your pumpkin soup, sour cream in your chili, a wedge of lemon on your fish, etc.] to give it less of a flat feeling to it. You can also stack them [like cookies], make a stack to take a photograph of rather than have a bunch of them flat on the surface, it will give a more natural and appealing feel to it.

Now it's time to actually take your photo; I suggest a more shallow Depth of Field, it will help hold the focus on your main piece while keeping the background subtle but still there. You want your food to stand out from any props, background or anything else you use.
When it comes to framing, forget the rule of thirds and almost everything else you've learned about framing. Fill your frame with your food. Take your best angle and frame around it giving a little room around the food, but allow it to take up a great deal of the frame, allow enough room for any props/background you used, but try to make your food take up the most allowing the details to be seen better.
It's okay for it to be centered, it's fine for the edges to be cut out, and it's perfectly find to be a little tilted.

Diptych:
I'm sure you've seen these before; they usually have 2-3 different photographs in one image. These are great for food photography because it lets you display different angles. stages or give better view of the smaller details.

Everything Else I Forgot:        Have fun with it; this is one of the few times you can break most of the rules of photography! Take multiple shots and try different things, soon enough you'll find your niche and style for photographing food.
If you have any questions or there was something I missed please don't hesitate to ask!

Valentines Day

  Happy Valentines Day

For the longest time I was one of those people that detested Valentines Day; if we're being fully honest I still find the entire thing quite silly [though now I find the negative feeling directed more towards "Sweetests Day", which we'll get back to when the day comes around] but anyways; it's always seemed like a pretty dumb holiday to me. Here's why:
I didn't hate love; while I wasn't an overly emotional, touchey/feely, "oh baby," person; I still felt good about love itself as long as it was cuddling me and trying to kiss me in the gas station. Here's my problem with Valentines Day; it's expected. Everyone expects generally the same thing, someone makes/buys dinner, you go out on a nice date, girls get chocolate, teddy bears and stuff and guys get a tshirt, card and maybe a bj or something... pretty bland? yes, in my opinion. It's like it's expected to buy gifts and ooze love that you should feel all year around [and for some people to show that love everyday... they'd be broke and exhausted within two weeks]
I've had good Valentines days; much like the ones described above, but last year my love and I did something different. We still went to dinner, we got all dolled up and gorgeous; but then we went to the casino, smoked cigarettes, drank too much and played black jack. It was the first time Valentines Day was FUN and showed our love rather than feeling forced, formal and required.
This year we didn't really make plans again; we got dressed up [because we're classy] went to dinner with my best friend and her fiance, wandered down to our favorite skeezy bar played our favorite jukebox music, danced, played pool and came home to kill zombies together until the wee hours. And again, we had a lot of fun with each other rather than trying to impress each other.
What's my point? I hate the way people make valentines day, the fact they have to make it; when really it could be perfect. If we dressed up next Tuesday, we could still do the same thing, maybe we will. It doesn't have to be February 14th to be Valentines Day, you just have to love each other and have fun. All the romantic things you can do on Valentines Day is wonderful, enjoy it. We do, but my best advice for Valentines day; don't plan it, don't overdo it, do overwhelm yourself with things on the agenda, if you're going to plan something plan a day where to get to spend the most time with each other doing things you love that you can't do all the time. [for us it was going to the casino just us, getting dressed up, going to a really nice dinner and me getting wine that is far too over priced haha]
I wish more people would see this side of it rather than the stuffy side. I'm so happy I found this earlier in life rather than way later, because now we're young and it gives the future so much more to it.

I hope everybody had an absolutely wonderful Valentines Day. And continues to find and share love throughout the rest of the year, with your love, friends, family and even in strangers. Love is truly all around us if we open our eyes and allow it to be there!

2014 Positivity Project

I recently posted a journal on my deviantART page about depression, the powers of positive thinking and not being alone. After that I started thinking of ways we as people could help promote and spread positivity throughout the world and among our peers; with this I came up with a new project.
Currently I am hosting the project through tumblr at 2014 Positivity Project and on deviantART collecting them in this folder. Maybe after some time if it grows enough I will branch it out to other media sites; but for now these two are all I'm doing... now a bit about the project:

The 5 W's

What? The whole point of this project is to spread positivity through photographing inspirational/positive/motivational/uplifting quotes written on paper
When? NOW! You can do one once a month, week, day or just once. However many times you want to do it! My goal is to collect 365 quotes by the end of 2014. If you do one let me know by commenting here, deviantART, tumblr or email me.
Why? To spread and promote positivity through inspiration and art.
Who? Everyone!
Where? Everywhere, Earth.

Other Info...

Do they have to be hand written? They can be typed, I suggest hand written because it adds a personal touch, but honestly as long as you're doing it that's totally fine with me.
What do I do with them? Other than posting it online for us to share; you can do whatever you want with the pieces of paper. I'm going to leave mine in random places for people [i.e. the library, school, work, stores, the park, etc.]

Baked Grapefruit

I'll be honest, I've never been particularly fond of grapefruit; but for some reason my dad thought I'd enjoy one [actually four] so I have four grapefruits lying around.

I saw something a few weeks ago on Facebook [or pinterest? who knows] about baked grapefruits with brown sugar and maple syrup [I think?] so I decided the best thing to do with these grapefruits was try something that had actually sounded like it could be good if I liked grapefruits.

Well; guess what? I LOVE GRAPEFRUITS! when they're baked this way...

Ingredients:
1 whole grapefruit [halved]
5 tbsp. honey
1 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. granulated white sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. plain yogurt

Directions:
1. preheat oven to 350F. cut grapefruit in half and remove core. with a knife cut along each of the piths [the thin sort of stringy pieces that case the pieces individually]

2. fill the center [where you removed the core] with honey [2tbsp], drizzle any extra around the top. Sprinkle [1/2 tbsp.] brown sugar, [1 tbsp.] sugar and [1/2 tsp.] cinnamon on the top.

3. repeat step 2 on the other half of the grapefruit. place both on regular tin-foil lined baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.

4. remove from oven, drizzle [1 tbsp.] honey on top of the grapefruit pieces [1/2 tbsp. each], sprinkle with extra brown sugar, sugar or cinnamon if desired.

5. cut between the fruit and the rind in a full circle to help pull the individual pieces out. you can either leave them in the whole grapefruit, move them to a bowl; I take them all out to let the extra juice out and  put them back in the rind, it makes it decorative and festive.

6. enjoy!
I also happen to dislike plain yogurt but for some reason had this as well, I mixed a little under 1/4 c. of it in with the pieces and it was DELICIOUS!

100 Love Letters Project

100 Love Letters Project is a project where we write love letters to strangers and place them in random places to be found by said strangers.

When: 14th, February, 2014

Where: Everywhere, Earth

Why: To spread positivity by spreading love, hope and inspiration to people we don't even know and my never meet!

How: Write your love letter[s] and place them in whatever locations you choose: library, school, work, the park, a store, etc.

Some tips:
  • Don't write who you are, leave in anonymous!
  • Make it positive and upbeat; what would you want to read in a random letter written to you?
  • Make it stand out; a special color, ink, drawings, etc. Something that will grab a persons attention. Maybe write something like "Hi Stranger" or "Yes, this is for you!".

morning coffee & childrens stories

As like any other mother, I find my children amazing; but this morning
was particularly perfect. My boys were at school already which left just Izzy and I. I made us coffee and "coffee" [which is actually a whole lotta milk, a dash of sugar and a touch of coffee] but anyhow; the snow was falling just slightly with the morning light leaking in our windows as as we drank our coffees. Izzy had my colored pens and was drawing and I was checking my messages such.
I looked over to find her 'writing a story', however much a person her age can write. I'll admit it was a lot of scribbles, loops and lines between [and around] the lines of your standard writing paper.
I asked her what she was doing and she said "I'm writing a story", which in it's own made my heart swell a little ❤ but what struck me was when I asked her what it was about she actually had a story line and description of what she was 'writing' so in a sense, despite the fact it may not have been actually written on paper, in her head she truly was writing a story.
Maybe it's just me, maybe it's because I'm her mama, maybe it's a lot of things combined; but all three of my children have picked up some type of art.
My oldest son: drawing & photography
My middle son: photography & cooking/culinary
My daughter: baking, writing & painting
I personally think it's important that children experiment with arts and learning to find their niche with it if they enjoy it. Both as an interest and an  outlet.  I've seen their  improvement grow within it, I've seen their creativity unfold and their imagination spark.
And I find it amazing every time.

artist's block - break it!

The recurring question “how do I break this artist's block”, we’ve all hit that wall where we just can’t find a way to get anything out, and if we do it’s just rubbish we can hardly bare to admit we created. There are many causes of artist’s block, and luckily many cures!

Sometimes we're not inspired, this is probably the hardest to overcome because you can't always just make yourself get up and go get inspired. Another reason people hit this block is because they're just bored with what they're doing. Below are a few ways to break either of those causes, use one method, use four whatever you want and whatever it takes. You can get through it.

  • Take a break; seriously. This is my first suggestion give yourself a little bit to think, relax, rejuvenate and simply be blocked for a minute, hour or a day or two. Unless you’re in some rush to get it done take advantage of this step. Sometimes your brain just needs a minute to cool down before it powers back up and gets going again.
  • Prompts: prompts come in many forms from themes, words/phrases, examples, visual pieces, music etc. They are used to inspire you and make you think about how to represent or respond to the given prompt. [you can google [art type i.e. writing, photography, etc.] prompts or you can use your own.
  • Try something new: Think of something you haven’t done/tried before. Then go forth and find a tutorial and give it a try, you’ll create something from that tutorial AND maybe you’ll get inspired to use the method/style in a different way with something else.
  • Previous Ideas/Art:
    • in my opinion everybody should keep an inspiration journal [writing journal, thought journal, whatever you choose to call it]. We’ve all had those moments where we’re in class, at work, walking our dog, showering, whatever and we have a brilliant idea! Write it down, write it on your hand, write it in the steam on the mirror, write it on a scrap of paper just write it down. And when you get the chance add it to your journal [I do recommend keeping this on you, but it’s up to you. I also know people who keep their ideas in their phone notes because it’s easier to carry your phone then remember a journal] When you get a block, go back to this list and find stuff on there to start, work on or whatever.
    • another option is to go back to an old piece of work; think of the ways you improve it and do again, branch off [start a series, make it bigger or even get an entirely new idea!]
  • Start a project: Project 365, 52 week project, a monthly themed challenge [NaNoWriMo, 30 Days of Photos, 30 days, 30 sketches], even make one up! Make a goal/challenge to get yourself creating something, anything. It doesn’t have to be fantastic, it has to break that barrier between you and your inspiration.
  • Believe in yourself: if you believe you're never going to create art again, you're probably not. If you keep thinking it's only going to suck, it probably will. Believe in  yourself and your art! Take compliments! Let your head grow! Improve, grow and strive. You'll get through this block, we all have

2014 Resolutions

I don't usually make new years resolutions since I don't believe the changing of a year will actually inspire me to change my life [for example; turning 20, that inspired me to start thinking & changing some things]. But anyhow; this year I decided to make a few resolutions... and here they go

Improve relationships and promote positivity in life [& "break-up" with anyone who brings only negativity]
De-clutter my life both physically, emotionally & mentally.
Work towards goals on my 101 things in 1,001 days project
Since my best friend is getting married this year; get in better shape so I can rock that dress even better
Improve my photography, complete my Glory-Be-Project & try new styles/medias
Be more regularly active on deviantART

101 things in 1,001 days
101 things in 1,001 days is pretty simple; you make 101 goals to complete within 1,001 days [approx. 2.75 years] you can find out more by reading Day Zero Project [about]. I started mine the first of this year, which means it will end on the 28.September.2016. That amount of time is more realistic in changing my life than 1 year.
I'm not gonna list all 1,001 one things but they range from things I want to do with with my kids, art, my life and other bits and pieces of dreams and aspirations.

My Goal in Life
My ultimate life goal is simple; to find peace and happiness in every day and promote positivity in my childrens lives, my life and that of strangers. To be a good person and teach my children to be good people. I want simple things. I don't dream of greatness nor do I hope for a huge house on a lake. I just want to find my bliss and share it with my children & my love.
